William Berger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Perinchief Chapels - Mount Holly on Jan. 2, 2026.
William J. Berger, Jr., of Chesterfield, NJ, formerly of Fairless Hills, PA, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on March 5, 1935, in New York City, William-known affectionately to many as Bill-moved to Bristol, PA with his family as a young teen. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, beginning his career as a bag boy for ShopRite and steadily advancing to become Director of Operations. He dedicated over 50 years of loyal service before retiring.

William proudly served for six years in the United States Army Reserve, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty and responsibility.

After suffering a stroke in 1997, William's resilience shone brightly. Following a year of rehabilitation, he returned to school and earned his associate's degree. He went on to share his knowledge and experience by substitute teaching History and daily living skills. He also volunteered for many years with SCORE, mentoring aspiring business owners, and offered motivational support to fellow stroke survivors at his local hospital, St. Mary's, in Langhorne, PA.

William was deeply devoted to his faith and church community. He served faithfully as an usher, lector, and member of the financial committee at St. Joseph the Worker, and later at St. Frances Cabrini parish following the parish merger.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, and later in life cherished traveling to various destinations with his beloved spouse, Alberta.

William was predeceased by his spouses Eleanor Crain, née Mason, and Alberta M. Berger, and by three siblings.

He is survived by his children Regina R. Howe-Smith (Russell), William A. Berger, Michael M. Mason (Donna), and Sean M. Berger. He is also survived by his grandchildren Keith (Megan), Timothy, Danny (Carly), Billy, Tyler, Evan, Derek, and Nadine; his two great-grandchildren Aiden and Ronan; his sibling Peter Giamo; and many loving nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and dear friends.

He will be remembered for his strength, generosity, faith, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with William's family on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10am-11am at Sacred Heart Church, 260 High Street, Mount Holly, NJ, 08060. A funeral Mass for William will follow the visitation at 11am at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be held privately.
