Shirley M. Hurley

Shirley Hurley, 81, of Manasquan, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born and raised in Manasquan, where she graduated from Manasquan High School. After high school, she married her husband, whom she met on a blind date. Due to her husband's military service, they lived in PA. for a short time before settling in Manasquan in 1966. Shirley raised her family here in Manasquan before she started her 20 plus year career at Foodtown, Sea Girt. First working at the salad bar, and then a cashier before her retirement in 2012. Shirley loved playing cards, doing word search, and watching her soap operas. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Manasquan, and a member of the ladies' auxiliary of Manasquan Engine Company #2.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband David Hurley in 1999, and her parents Lucien and Audrey Bauter. She is survived by her loving children Doug Hurley (Carl) of Wilton Manors, FL., Scott Hurley (Shelby) of Chesterfield, NJ, and Dawn West (Daniel) of Manasquan, NJ. Shirley was the cherished grandmother of Audrey, Dylan, Abigail, and Ella. She also leaves behind her younger twin brother Arthur Bauter (Joan) of Neptune, NJ.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday December 29, 2025, from 4-7 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 am on Tuesday December 30, 2025. Interment will follow at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan, NJ.
