On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Duane Thomas Gemmill, 74, died peacefully with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband to Linda L. (DeMartin) Gemmill to whom he was married for 55 years. Duane was born on September 15, 1951 in Stewartstown, PA to the late Cletus and Helen (Barnett) Gemmill. He attended Kennard-Dale High School, then graduated from York Vo-Tech. He retired from Caterpillar UAW 786 after 30 years of service as well as working as a certified NASCAR mechanic for Junior Miller and Frank Warren racing teams. He was a member of the Stewartstown American Legion Post 455. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and gardening in his huge garden. He loved to cook and always made enough food to feed an entire neighborhood.
Duane is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Michael Gemmill and wife Marcia, Michelle Gemmill and fiance Shawn Musselman; three grandchildren, Kayla Gemmill and fiance Marianna McHugh, Kendra Gemmill-Hofler and husband Brent, Kelsey Gemmill. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Megan Gemmill. He also survived by two siblings, Larry Gemmill and wife Cathy, and Gloria Smith and husband Richard, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 31, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA 17327. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.geiple.com.
