Duane Lee "Dewey" Jones, Jr., 60, of Independence, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at his home. A visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Royer's New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, Missouri.

Duane was born on January 21, 1965 in Detroit, Michigan, son of Duane and Carol (Malkowski) Jones. He lived his life with heart, generosity, and a deep love for the people and world around him. Dewey loved nothing more than hitting the open road on his Harley-Davidson Dyna Glide, with the wind at his back and a sense of freedom in his heart. He had a strong sense of community and purpose, which he carried into his work with Community Services League, work he found deeply meaningful.

Dewey's life was a beautiful ride, filled with adventure, compassion, and connection. He will be missed by many and remembered always.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grandma Baesse, uncle Mark Turczyn, uncle John Malkowski, and close uncle Jamie Malkowski.

Duane is survived by his sister, Tamara Jones; nephew, Dakota Jones (Skylar); great niece, Brinnley Jones; aunts: Donna Malkowski, Kate Turczyn, Darlene Glaze; uncle, Ken Malkowski and many cousins.
