Duane R. Kalland

Duane R. Kalland, 79 of Tomah passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Serenity House, Tomah. He was born on January 9, 1945, to Claire and Bernice (Boge) Kalland in Columbus, WI. Duane grew up in and lived in the Poynette, Keyser and Deforest areas. On October 23, 1999, he was united in marriage to Pamela J. Bailey. In 1995, they relocated to Tomah. Throughout his life, Duane drove semi for Hanley Implement in Sun Prairie, did sand blasting work in Cottage Grove, drove for Duane Shy and while in Tomah he worked for Band Box for over 16 years prior to retirement. Duane enjoyed socializing with friends and absolutely loved to dance. His favorite was 50's and 60's old country, Hank William Era style music. He never turned down the opportunity to take a turn around the dance floor. He also was an avid lover of the old western movies and shows. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood were a few actors who he could watch day in and day out.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pam of Tomah, children, Duaine "LD" (Noreen) Kalland, Darwin Phillips, Shannon Kalland, and Jessica Mina, 2 stepchildren, John Gurske and Katrina Gurske, siblings, Elaine (Bob) Sengl, Dennis (Jean) Kalland, Shirley (Glen) Andler and Sandy (Kim) Elledge, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 6 step grandchildren. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Brenda Kalland, a son, Billy Joe Kalland, nieces, Angie Kalland Methalard and Sandra Kolve, and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Eugene Kolve.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, 5:00 PM at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah. Pastor Shane Haynes will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, Monona, WI.

Memorials in Duane's memory can be given to the First Congregational Church, Tomah.
Following the memorial service, a gathering will be held at Kelsey's Class Act Bar, 201 Superior Ave. Tomah.
