Duane Henry Minor, 88, of Lakeshore, passed away Friday afternoon October 18, 2024, at Good Samaritan in Pine River.
A celebration of his life will be held, Wednesday November 13th, 2024, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter from 1-3pm. Military Honors will be presented by the Nisswa Legion at 3:00pm.
Duane was born January 1st, 1936, in Mason Township, to Howard and Dorothy (Jones) Minor. In 1937, the family moved to the Landmark, known as " Minors Corner", where he and his siblings grew up. Graduating in 1953 from Brainerd High School, he helped around the family farm. Shortly after, he enlisted in the U.S. Army until 1960, during which time he married Elly (Cronquist). They raised two sons together. Some years later while living in Lakeshore, he met and married Joyce.
Duane found a position at Potlatch, was the best fit and worked 30+ years before retiring. He also maintained a position as Captain of the Color Guard with Nisswa American Legion Post # 627.
Work for Duane didn't quit. He enjoyed his time making sure his wood piles were the biggest in the county. He worked hard and played harder. Duane was an avid hunter, fisherman and pool player. He enjoyed trap shooting, trips to the casino, dancing, karaoke and many visits to Alaska to see family. Never one to refuse something sweet, he usually got his way with a wink and a smile. He will be greatly missed by many.
Duane is survived by children, Garry (Tami) Minor of Elko, MN; Bob Minor of Chugiak, AK; Laurette Lindquist of Brainerd; grandchildren: Derek and Hunter Minor; Devyn and Robyn Minor; great grandchildren, Harrison and Henry, dear and special friend Sharyn Simonson.
