Duane A. Pratt Sr.

Duane A. Pratt, Sr. age 93, of Berwick, Illinois, passed away at 4:15 am at the Roseville Nursing and Rehab Center in Roseville, Illinois on June 1, 2024. Duane was born on August 4, 1930 in Berwick, Illinois and is the son of Arnold Meachum and Hazel Leona Underwood Pratt. Duane attended the Berwick grade school and attended the Avon High School. He was married to Louise (Kirby) Pratt on August 12, 1950 in Berwick at the home of her parents. Duane has been a farmer in grain and livestock all of his life, farming his family's Centennial Farm. He drove a school bus for Cavanaugh Bus Service in Monmouth for twenty-five years. Duane also served on the Roseville school board for many years. He has been a member of and a Deacon in the Berwick Baptist Church and for forty years has been a volunteer fireman for the Abingdon Fire Protection District, the Berwick Unit. Duane has collected toy tractors, both John Deere and International Harvester for years. He enjoyed "Gunsmoke" and a good western on the television. His greatest love were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In other words, "His family".
Surviving Duane is his wife Louise, of seventy-four years, two sons, Richard Pratt and Martha of Eldridge, Iowa and Duane Pratt Jr. and Dianna of Berwick, Illinois. There are four grandchildren, Zach Pratt and Selena of Clive, Iowa, Mark Pratt and Stephanie of Eldridge, Iowa, Sarah Pratt and Curt Pratt, both of Bettendorf, Iowa. Duane's sister survives IrmaJean White of Knoxville, Illinois. He is preceded in his death by his parents, one son, Gary, and his sister, Edith Higbee.
A private family graveside service is planned on Wednesday at the Berwick Cemetery in Berwick, Illinois. Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth is in charge of his care and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday to pay their respects.
