Duane L Sandmeyer, known affectionately to all as Sandy, departed this world on April 19, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 10, 1939, in Ft Wayne, Indiana, to the late Frances Slusher and Dewey Sandmeyer. He grew up imbued with a sense of warmth and camaraderie that would define his life. Duane's final days were spent in the sunshine at his home in Bradenton. Florida. Duane's life was marked by a rich tapestry of relationships and accomplishments. He was predeceased by his loving mother and father, his sister Barbara Perry, his brother Max Sandmeyer, his stepson Brian Neff. His legacy continues through his sister Maxine Thatcher, his brother David (Rory) Sandmeyer, his children Tonya (Dan) Avery, Robin (Gary) Good. Mark Sandmeyer, Jamie (Amy) Sandmeyer, and his stepson Robbie Neff. Duane's spirit will also live on through the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy.
Professionally, Duane was a respected printer who dedicated many years to serving various newspapers with his meticulous craft. His commitment to quality and his friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure among his colleagues. Retirement did not diminish his industrious nature: instead, it provided him with more time to indulge in his passions.
Duane's love for the outdoors was evident to anyone who knew him. He found solace in the simple pleasures of yard work, taking pride in a well-manicured lawn and the serenity of nature. His leisure time often included basking in the sun, where he would reflect on life's blessings and the beauty of the world around him.
An avid bowler and golfer, Duane channeled his competitive spirit into every game. He is described by those who knew him best as hardworking, friendly, wise, and thoughtful.
As we bid farewell to Duane L Sandmeyer, we celebrate a life filled with love. laughter. and the joy of simple pleasures. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the sun he so loved continues to rise and set, reminding us of the beauty here; it lives on through the cherished memories shared by all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
