Patrick Franklin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (26th St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Jan. 27, 2026.
Patrick Scott Franklin Sr., a cherished family man, avid outdoorsman, and respected member of his community, passed away on January 22, 2026, as the result of a tragic cycling accident. Born on October 23, 1958, in Wood River, Illinois, Patrick lived his 67 years with a deep zest for life and an unwavering love for his family.
Patrick was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Pamela Franklin, and was also survived by his mother, Dhavala Shamuga. He was a proud father to his daughters, Melissa Richards, Marlina Rodriguez, and Heather Franklin, and to his sons, Patrick Franklin Jr., Jake Bartholow, and Richard Bartholow. His siblings-Sally Franklin, Billy Franklin, Debra Jean Poquette, Kelly Franklin, and Manny Hodges-will remember him as the brother who always brought laughter and love into their lives. His legacy continues through his thirty-five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Patrick built a respected career as a fleet manager and diesel mechanic with Woodruff & Sons. He became known as a local tire legend, admired for his expertise, dedication, and strong work ethic. His professionalism earned him the respect of both his colleagues and the wider community.
An adventurer at heart, Patrick found joy in life's simplest pleasures. He was a passionate cyclist and well known in the cycling community, riding with multiple pelotons including The Village Idiots and the Sarasota-Manatee Bike Club. To Patrick, the cycling community was family. When he wasn't on his bike, he could be found at the gym or outdoors kayaking and fishing, always eager to share stories of his latest ride or newest catch.
Patrick's sense of humor was infectious, and his laughter had the power to light up any room. His life was a true testament to love, perseverance, and the spirit of adventure. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him, as they continue to walk in the light of his example. Though he has departed this earthly life, the impact of Patrick Scott Franklin Sr. will endure for generations to come.
