Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (26th St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Jan. 7, 2026.
Michael Dean Adams, known affectionately as Mike to his family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home in
Bradenton, Florida, on January 5, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on June 12, 1948, in
Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Mike's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit and a heart full of joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
Mike's professional life reflected his dedication and strong work ethic. As the co-owner of Adams Trucking Company in Iowa, he built a reputation for reliability and service. Mike's dedication to his work continued after moving to Florida, where he retired from PGT Industries in 2014 as their transportation safety supervisor in
Venice, FL.
A devout Christian, Mike's faith was a guiding light in his life, providing strength and comfort through all of life's ups and downs. He was a man who lived by the words of St. Francis of Assisi, "For it is in giving that we receive, " and his generous spirit was evident to all who crossed his path.
Mike was a man of many interests and talents. His love for golf, fishing, boating, wood working, music and dancing reflected his enjoyment of the simple pleasures in life. He loved sport cars and watching NASCAR, but his true passion was as he would say "IT'S GAME DAY!" as he loved college football especially his Iowa Hawkeyes. These weren't just hobbies for Mike but ways in which he connected with those he loved, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Described as handy, funny, and thoughtful, Mike was the kind of person who could fix almost anything, crack a joke to lighten the mood, and lend a listening ear or a helping hand whenever needed. His presence was a comfort, and his laughter was contagious.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Oakley Teddy "Mike" Adams, his mother, Nellie Mae Adams, his brother and sister-in-law Milton and Lois Adams, and his brother-in-law, Donald Albers.
Mike will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Dee, children Todd Adams (Teresa), Chris Adams (Kelly), Andrew Adams, Stacy Meier (Michael), and Melissa Bornhorst (Mike). He was a cherished brother to Ronald Adams (Janet), Betty Wilde (Clarence), and Lodean Albers. His legacy continues through his numerous grandchildren, Mitchell Adams, Ben Adams (Lindsey), Joe Adams, Brady Adams, Brett Adams, Kaylee Meier, Joshua Bornhorst and Riley Bornhorst, a great-grandchild, Eli Adams and many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warmth.
As we bid farewell to Mike, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with kindness, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held to honor Mike on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM with Fellowship to follow from 11 AM to 1 PM, at Grace Community Church: Lakewood Ranch Campus (LWRC): 4080 Lakewood Ranch Blvd N, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34240.
