Duane Sprague Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lamoille Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Morrisville on Oct. 28, 2025.
Duane B Sprague, age 84, of St. Albans peacefully passed away on October 27, 2025, surrounded by family. Duane and his wife Jane of 61 years had recently relocated to St. Albans after living for more than 60 years in Morrisville.
Duane was born on February 8, 1941, in Northfield, the only son to Edwin Sprague, Jr and Ruth (Campbell) Sprague. Duane attended Northfield schools graduating from Northfield High School in 1959. After high school, Duane served six years in the Vermont Guards. Duane was mostly employed in sales from hardware to real estate and retired in 2008 as a Realtor / Broker.
On September 19, 1964, he married Jane Joslin. This union resulted in beautiful daughters and many years of love, laughs, travel, supporting each other and many, many games of cribbage.
Always community minded, Duane volunteered for many organizations and served on town government groups Morrisville/Morristown for over 50 years in different capacities. He retired as a Town Lister in 2024. Duane was also seen at many school events both that included his daughters and those that did not. This includes over 30 years keeping the book or clock for all home Peoples Academy basketball games.
Duane is survived by his wife Jane of 61 years. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Kelley and Michael Jordick, Kaaren and John Meyer, and Kristin and Shawn Allard. He is survived by five grandchildren, Anthony Jordick and his wife Kate, Aleksey Shattie and her husband Jason, Jack Meyer, Kathryn Meyer, and Joslin Allard. He leaves behind three great grandchildren, Violet, Sebastian and Jasper Jordick. Duane is survived by his only sister, Paula Sprague and her husband Rick. He leaves behind very close friends for over 60 years, Gary and Lynn Kingsbury.
Duane leaves two final thoughts, "Life was good." "Don't be sad, be happy as we traveled the roads together enjoying every mile."
