Duane Charles Stuart age 78 of Peshtigo passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. He was born on March 30, 1947, the son to the late Duncan and Eleanor (Alswager) Stuart.
He graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1965 and attended NWTC for 1 year after graduation. He then took an apprenticeship for tool and die at EP Olsen Machine in Marinette. After that he worked at Safeguard of Marinette, Lub Services of Manitowoc and Mid Central Tool of Oconto Falls before joining Scott Paper/ Kimberly Clark where he spent the next 30 years before retiring in 2007.
Duane proudly served our country for 7 years in the Wisconsin National Guard.
In February of 1967, he married Jill Behnke his high school sweetheart and they spent the next 58 years together. In 1990, they purchased 40 acres in the Twin Bridge area and built a cabin and spent as much time there as possible. After retirement he enjoyed going to Gulf Shores Alabama for two months every winter for 15 years. He also traveled 40 of the 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska.
Duane is survived by his wife Jill, son Steven of Marinette, daughter Stacey of Denver, Colorado. A grandson William of Sturgeon Bay and a granddaughter Claire of Menominee and the love of his life Phoenix Rose his great granddaughter. One brother Dennis Stuart of Madison and many nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law Jean Behnke.
He is preceded in death by his parents Duncan and Eleanor, his father-in-law Ben Behnke, brother Thomas and bother in law Donald Behnke.
Private family services will be held.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Rennes Health Center and Unity Hospice for all they have done.
Burial for Duane will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
