Duane R. Wagenmann

The funeral service for Duane R. Wagenmann, 73, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:00am, Friday, December 1, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jim Holthus officiating. The burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Duane died Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm, Thursday, with family present from 5:00-7:00pm, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Duane Wagenmann was born on September 1, 1950, to Reinhold and Alma (Burrer) Wagenmann in Leola, SD. His family moved to Aberdeen in 1953 and this is where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School in 1969. He moved to Huron for a while before moving back to Aberdeen about 17 years ago.
Duane was a very independent person. He was kind, friendly and helped people as often as he could. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and putting puzzles together. He collected many things including salt and pepper shakers, 50 state plates, and Pepsi merchandise. He frequently cooked and liked trying new recipes. He enjoyed riding his bike and often rode it wherever he went.
Grateful for having shared Duane's life are his siblings: Dean Wagenmann, Dianna Way, Delores Wagenmann, Deborah (Andy) Mendoza, and Delila Norton; sister-in-law, Sharon Wagenmann; nieces and nephews: Teri Way, Shawn (Suzette) Wagenmann, Katarina Mendoza-Hernandez (Aaron Hernandez), Elaine Mendoza, Douglass Norton, Stacey Norton, Scott (Holly) Norton, Steven Norton, Timothy Norton, Ryan (Noel) Isaacson, Lee (Judy) Wagenmann, Sheila (Bruce) Beyer, and Brian Cayo; and many cousins.
Preceding Duane in death are his parents: Reinhold and Alma Wagenmann; siblings: Donnie Wagenmann, David Wagenman, Dennis Wagenmann, Darlene Cayo, and Donna Newell; and brothers-in-law: John Way, Leland Norton, and Harold Newell; many aunt, uncles and cousins.
