Dudley Hawkins, of Madison, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Dudley was born May 14, 1941, to Albert Switzer Hawkins and Sally Jackson Hawkins. He was the third of four children. He is survived by one brother, Tony Hawkins (BJ). He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 52 years Patricia Hawkins, and a daughter Robin Brown (Ricky).
He grew up in Covington, GA. He was a high school graduate and attended Massey Business College. After school, he worked numerous jobs and pastored the Lighthouse Apostolic Church in Jackson, GA. He worked for MARTA, beginning as an apprentice mechanic and retired 25 years later as a dispatcher.
Dudley married Patricia Thompson in 1963 and enjoyed almost 52 years together. Patricia passed away in 2014 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's. Dudley remarried in 2017 to Sandra Wade Brown and moved to Madison, GA. He spent his last years together with Sandra as a part-time pastor at North Shore Resort on Lake Oconee. He is survived by his children, Ken Hawkins (Lori), and Jamie Hawkins (Kristy). He is also survived by four adult stepchildren, Ginny Gregg (Joe), Laurie Lewis (Chic), Richie Davis (Rachel), and Brad Davis (Shannon). His grandchildren, Brittania, Miranda, Jessica, Amanda, Austin, Kingston, Vintage, Sparrow, Sarah, Will, Dillon, Wade, Jennifer, Katrina, Ashley, Stephanie, Samantha, Claudia, and Chelsea. His great grandchildren, Isabella, Luke, Aubrey, Katherine, Bristol, Kensley, Hosea, Alex, Alisia, Graciala, Marsella, Tatianna, Catalina, Haley, Andrew, Lily, Rossa, Gracie, Violet, Adrian, Giovani, Arelio, Gabriel, Ariana, Elijah, Hudson, Isaac, Sammy, Waylon, and Josie.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Hawkins will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington with Pastor Joe Hughs officiating with Kingston Hawkins saying a few words at the graveside. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to his service from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Dudley requests friends and family make donations to Antioch Baptist Church in Godfrey, GA or to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ).
