Dulces D. Mancha, Sr., a cherished patriarch and a man of joy, passed away at the age of 88 on August 6, 2025, in
Odessa, Texas. Born on July 22, 1937, in Alpine, Texas, Dulces grew into a man whose love and laughter knew no bounds. His life was a testament to the values of family, hard work, and the simple joys that come from a life well-lived.
Dulces's journey began as a young man in Alpine, where the foundation of his character was built upon the wide-open spaces and close-knit community spirit of his hometown. He carried this spirit with him throughout his life, touching the hearts of everyone he met. Dulces's dedication to his family was unwavering. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Lupe G. Mancha, and a guiding light to his children, Wulces Mancha, Jr., Ruben Mancha, Concepcion Mancha, Samuel Mancha, and Rodney Kempke. His love extended to his daughters-in-law, Mary Mancha, Yolanda R. Mancha, and Pamela Bozeman, and blossomed further with each grandchild and great-grandchild that joined the Mancha family tree.
Professionally, Dulces served the community through his work with the City of Odessa's Parks and Recreation department and as a driver for Glacier. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his family. Dulces often remarked that the greatest day of his life was when he became a husband and a father, roles he embraced with every fiber of his being. His children and grandchildren, including Candy Ann Rodriguez, Marc Anthony Mancha, Veronica Galindo, Candace Aumiller, Valerie Mancha, Ruben Jr. Mancha, Samson Mancha, Erica Gonzalez, Jeremy Mancha, Michael Mancha, Emire Mancha, Savannah Hilton, and Rodney "HotRod" Kempke, were his pride and joy. He also cherished the relationships with his numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply.
Dulces was a man full of life, always ready with a joke and a smile. His sense of humor was infectious, and he was often described as the life of any gathering. Though he could be strict, it was a reflection of his desire to see his loved ones succeed and be their best selves. His lessons and guidance were delivered with kindness and love, leaving a lasting impact on those he guided.
To describe Dulces as loving, funny, and kind only scratches the surface of the man he was. His legacy is one of laughter, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family. The times he spent with his loved ones were the most precious to him, and these moments have become cherished memories that will be held close by all who knew him.
Dulces D. Mancha, Sr., will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on through the stories told, the jokes shared, and the love he left behind. His was a life truly well-lived, and though he has departed from this world, the warmth of his presence will be felt for generations to come.
