Dustin Day Obituary

Dustin "Dusty" Heath Day, 44 of Chickamauga, Georgia passed away peacefully at home September 28, 2025, from a long-battled illness. He was surrounded by close family and friends when he went home to be with Jesus. Dusty was born in Chattanooga, TN on March 16,1981. He was a lifelong residence of the North Georgia/Tennessee area and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Rossville, Geogia. He graduated from Northwest Whitfield High School in Dalton, Georgia in 2000 where he was a standout athlete in both football and baseball. He still holds the single season homerun record of 18 homeruns. On July 27, 2020, Dusty married the love of his life, his soulmate Misty Day. Together they built a beautiful life filled with so much love and unconditional devotion. Dusty had true love for life with a strong will to live regardless of the life altering medical conditions he had faced for the past 15 years. He enjoyed cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and spending quiet moments fishing. But more than anything, Dusty's greatest pride and joy came from watching his son Dustin play baseball and football. These moments watching from the sidelines were the ones he cherished most.

Dusty is preceded in death by his mother, Linda Jo Ellis Day, brother Dustin Lee Day, grandparents Jesse (Dorothy) Day and Austin (Bettye) Ellis.

Survivors include his loving wife Misty Day; his beloved son Dustin Day Jr., stepchildren Michael Branam and Jenna Branam, his father Jesse "Sonny" (Melody) Lee Day, Jr., sister Heather (Justin) Day Jones, nephew and nieces Will Chambers, Kate Chambers, Jemma Jones and Ellis Jones, Aunt Rhonda (Jeff) Harbison, stepsiblings Courtney (Brooks) Edwards, Blake (Lindsey) Stansell, step-nieces and nephews, Presley and Briley Edwards, Kensie and Jordan Stansell, lifelong best friend, Jeff Goodlet and beloved dog, Landry.

Funeral Services will be held at 3pm Thursday October 2 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Derrell O'Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens East.

Family will receive friends and family Wednesday October 1st from 5:00-8:00 and Thursday October 2nd from 1:00-3:00 at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway, Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia.
