It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dustin "Dusty" Thomas Henning, who left
us on October 1, 2024, just shy of his 32nd birthday. Dusty was born on October 9, 1992, and from
an early age, it was clear that he had a passion for the great outdoors. He loved camping, fishing,
and finding peace in nature. His adventurous spirit extended into his love for fitness, and he took
great pride in competing in Spartan Obstacle Course Races. The dedication he showed in the gym
was a reflection of his drive and determination in every area of life.
Growing up as a Boy Scout, Dusty developed a resourcefulness and problem-solving ability that
carried him through his years as an auto mechanic, a career he cherished. He had an innate talent
for working on cars, always eager to lend a hand to family and friends.
Dusty's adventurous soul led him to many travels, including unforgettable family trips to the
Grand Canyon and numerous cruises. He was always up for an adventure, but no matter where life
took him, Dusty's love for family was the foundation of everything he did. His incredible smile and
infectious laugh could light up any room, bringing joy to those around him.
Dusty had a deep love for animals and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was an avid
reader, diving into books on a wide range of topics, including nutrition, fitness, technology,
psychology, and self-sufficiency. His love for learning extended into the kitchen, where he honed
his cooking skills-a passion he inherited from his mother, Shawn. Dusty's curiosity and
commitment to self-improvement were just a few of the many things that made him so
remarkable.
Dusty will be remembered for his kindness, his strength, and the joy he brought to everyone who
knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will live on in
the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Dusty was preceded in death by his loving mother, Shawn Henning and grandmother Floriene
(Lola). He is survived by his father, Charles Henning, and his siblings, Katie Jennifer Sheffield, Marty
Henning, Christopher Schnatz and Charlie Henning, all of whom will forever cherish the memories
they shared with him.
Rest in peace, Dusty. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the National Park
Foundation in Dusty's honor. This gesture would mean so much to him, as he deeply valued
helping others and making a positive impact. Thank you for your support and for celebrating
Dusty's life with us in this meaningful way.
