Dustin Paul Murrell, 40 of Des Moines, died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at his home in Des Moines.
Dustin was born August 18, 1982, in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Dr. Paul and Carol Ann (Smith) Murrell. He graduated from Nevada High School in 2001 and earned his BA from Iowa State University in 2005. Most recently, he worked for Wells Fargo in Des Moines. Dustin was also an author.
Dustin grew up going to North Grand Christian Church with his family. He traveled all over to WWE events with his friends and nephews. Dustin also enjoyed watching scifi movies with his friends and family. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, turning us all into fans. He played, watched, coached and loved soccer. Dustin loved to take his nieces and nephews on adventures, from roller derby to Wrestle Mania to Canada to baseball games and man vs. food contests. They meant the world to him; he even wrote books and comics about them.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Dr. Paul and Carol Murrell of Nevada; his sister, Tammy (Monte) Bullock of Waterloo, WI; his nephews, Logan and Caleb; his nieces, Abigail and Madison; his special miniature pig, Sergeant Hollywood and his special aunts, uncles and cousins He was preceded in death by his brother, Luke Murrell in 2017, and his paternal grandparents, James and Ardith Murrell and his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Helen Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Refuge and Hope Ministries in Des Moines.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2023. He will be laid to rest in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
