Dwayne Grounds Obituary
Dwayne was a determined man with many gifts and talents, and throughout his life he proudly carried many titles. He was a farmer, barrel racer, hunter, designer, carpenter, mechanic and race car driver. His work began early in life as he helped his family in the fields. He later spent time in the oil fields and with Goodyear Tire.
Dwayne's true passion was carpentry. In the late 1960's, he began building homes, and in the early 1990's he transitioned to building custom cabinets for homes. He often said, "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." Even with all of his accomplishments, the titles he cherished most were Dad and Popa.
He is preceded in death by his parents Reagan and Oleta Grounds; daughters Tammy Kaye Grounds and twin baby Grounds; sister Robbie Biggar and baby brother Grounds.
Left to remember and celebrate his life are his daughters Cindy Dill and husband Jeff of Corsicana, and Janet Grounds of Corsicana; granddaughters Autumn Grounds-Menard and husband Zach of Colorado, Brianna Caldwell and husband Daylon of Corsicana, Jordan Garrison and husband Tyson of Athens, Caslin and Cailin Thomas of Corsicana; great-grandchildren, Emmaline and Leona Menard, Maynon, Laylon, and Laykon Caldwell, and Seager Garrison; sister Polly Knott and husband Kenneth of Corsicana; nieces Kim Coston and husband Larkin of Corsicana, Cheryl Roberts and husband Kevin of Gun Barrel City; good friend Elvia of Corsicana. He is also remembered by many other family members and friends.
Visitation to be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Griffin Roughton Funeral Home followed by a chapel service officiated by Pastor Todd Nivens, and graveside services to follow.
Pallbearers: Jeff Dill, Zach Menard, Tyson Garrison, LaSodd Thomas, Randy Jock, Richie Price, and Joe Atkeisson
Honorary Pallbearers: Dale Bell, Dickie Russell, James Wright, Rusty Price, and Doyle McGee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Child Advocacy Center of Corsicana or YMCA Kids Sports of Corsicana
