Dwayne Moore, 61, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Dwayne was born in Jacksonville, Florida and attended Ed White High School Class of '82. Dwayne was involved in a variety of sports while attending Ed White. He was the quarterback (# 14) and place kicker on the Commander Football Team. Dwayne was also a member of the basketball team and track team. While attending FSU, as a walk-on Dwayne was selected to dress out for the Citrus Bowl in 1984 under Coach Bobby Bowden, a memory he nor any of us will ever forget.
Dwayne was an avid sports fan for FSU and Jags. He was a member of Pi Kappa Pi brotherhood Gamma Alpha Chapter. He had love for his family and many friends. Currently, he ran operations for The Southern Monument Company a family-owned business.
Preceded in death by his father & step-mother, Ray & Jan Moore. Surviving family include his wife of 37 years, Cheryl Sturgis Moore; son, Austin Moore; 2 brothers: Gene Moore (James), and Shane Moore (Brandy); mother, Judy Mills (Don); nieces & nephews: Whitney Hodges (Alan), Dawson Moore and Ty Moore; great nieces & nephew: Emerson, Kennedy and Anderson; aunts: Shelia Moore Whitmire (Richard), Paula Osborne and Linda Erickson; uncles: Luther H. Tison, III (Becky) and Edward Tison (Cindy); a number of cousins and a host of friends.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Peeples Event Center, 14165 N. Main Street. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at Evergreen Cemetery. His family will greet visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Peeples Event Center. I
n lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice of NE Florida at www.thefoundationcares.org and please specify the Alice & T. O'Neal Douglas Center for Caring. You may also donate to the Wolf and Wolfdog Rescue Sanctuary Rescue at www.wildspiritwolfsanctuary.org
