Dwayne Nixon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Martin Chapel in Chesaning on Apr. 16, 2024.
Dwayne L. Nixon, aged 65, of Oakley, Michigan, died April 14, 2024, at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso.
He was born to William and Delores Nixon on August 22, 1958, in Owosso. On January 10, 1981, he married Karen Smith, and they would spend 38 years of marriage together before she passed away in 2019. Together they raised 4 children.
Dwayne was a hardworking lumber mill worker, spending his career in the sawmill industry until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished the tranquility of nature, often spending his free time hunting, fishing, and exploring the wilderness. He also had a love for sports, particularly for the Michigan Wolverines and all of the Detroit sports teams. His enthusiasm extended beyond just being a spectator as he actively participated in coaching baseball and softball. However, what mattered most to Dwayne was spending quality time with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy and purpose to his life.
He is survived by his children, Brandi Nixon (Steven Millard), Patricia (Steven) Davis, Matthew Nixon, and Jonathan Nixon (Beckah Levitski); grandchildren, Chloe Davis, Connor Davis, Steven Davis II, Mackenzie Millard, Aiden Millard, Ellie Nixon, Gabriella Nixon, Vanellope Nixon and Maizie Nixon; his mother, Delores Nixon; his Siblings, William Nixon, Kevin Nixon, Annette Lollis, Deanne (Brad) Groll, and Kristina (Jim) Newport; his sisters-in-law Sharon (Randy) Jensen and Christine Allen; brother-in-law, Steven (Karen) Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Karen Nixon; his father, William Nixon; his parent-in-laws Erwin and Sarah Smith; his siblings Dennis and Kathy Nixon, and brother-in-law John Smith.
Funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday, April 18, 2023, at McGeehan Funeral Homes, Martin Chapel. Burial will follow at Ridge Road Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM till the time of service on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at McGeehan Funeral Homes, Martin Chapel
