Dwight Lee Catron,71, of Belle Rive, IL, passed into Heaven at 10:45 am, Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL. Dwight was born on August 5, 1954 in Jefferson County, IL to Glenn and Betty (DeJournett), Catron which have preceded him in death

Dwight married Rebecca (Gentle) Catron on November 8, 1983, and were blessed with 42 years of marriage, she survives.

Dwight graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and worked at Precision National Corp., Illinois State Game Farm and Catron Farms in Bluford, IL. He was a member of Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church, was a Sunday School Teacher and volunteered with the IBSA Disaster Relief and World Changers in Alabama Louisiana, Salt Lake City, Arizona and many local events.

Dwight enjoyed gardening, target shooting, hunting, fishing, running bird dogs, reading of Southern Illinois History and of the Civil War. He loved working on the farm and oil wells with his dad, sons and grandsons. He enjoyed morning coffee at Wilkey's Cafe and loafing with friends at the Feed store and southern FS in Belle Rive and at the Barber Shop in McLeansboro. He never met a stranger. He also cherished moments sitting underneath the big shade tree at the farm with his dad.

He savored excursions with his kids and grandkids to E Town River Restaurant (Fish Boat) and the Chocolate Factory in Vienna.

In addition to his wife, Dwight is survived by his son, Larry Catron and wife, Michelle of Bluford, IL; daughter, Jessica Summers and husband, Dennis of Port Charlotte, Florida; daughter, Leslie Brown and husband, Jason of Wayne City, IL; son, Nicholas Catron and wife, Kaitlyn of Ina, IL; grandchildren, Micaela Brewer and husband, Dustin of Scheller, IL, Jacelyn Lawless and husband, Wyatt of Mt. Vernon, IL, Landen Catron of Bluford, IL Callie Jo Catron of Wayne City, IL, Celia Summers of Port Charlotte, Florida, Braden Summers of Port Charlotte Florida, Brandon Brown of Robertsdale, Alabama, Taylor Clarke and husband, Nathaniel of Pensacola Beach, Florida, Jaiden Brown of Wayne City, IL, Libbi Brown of Wayne City, IL, Emmy Jo Catron of Ina, IL, Dixie Catron of Ina, IL, Reid Catron of Ina, IL and Hank Catron of Ina, IL; great grandchildren, Brynlee and Bracken Brewer, Hattie Lawless and Gianna Clarke, and brother DeWayne Catron of Bluford, IL; several nieces, nephews and friends

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Adeleigh Grace Brown .

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 10:00AM to 12:00 PM at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 PM, at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt Vernon, with Reverend Jerry Montgomery officiating. Memorials may be made in Dwight 's honor to Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.
