Dwight Richardson was born on January 18, 1989 in Toledo, OH to Roman Richardson and Anita Richardson. Dwight lived at home with his parents until moving to Sunshine Communities in Maumee in March of 1999.

Dwight was a calming presence to all who met him. He was quiet with a peaceful disposition and genuine spirit. Although born deaf and blind, Dwight enjoyed a full life at Sunshine. He participated in Special Olympics, was a "natural" with horses and excelled at therapeutic riding. He loved any type of music and would dance by feeling the vibrations and beat of the tunes. Dwight loved the outdoors whether it was sitting outside in the rain, feeling a storm settle in, or soaking up the sun.

Dwight was gifted at all things sensory. He used ques to learn his friends, caregivers and surroundings. He had a keen sense of humor and knew how to make others laugh.

Most of all, Dwight loved spending time with his family who was devoted to his care.

Dwight is survived by his parents, Roman (Pam Caswell) Richardson and Anita Richardson, his sister, Heather (Justin) Hilger, nephews Grady and Logan, and niece, Thea. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen Richardson, Sherry and Jerry Howard.

Dwight's family would like to thank the staff at Sunshine Communities for their dedication, trustworthiness, kindness, and care for Dwight over the years.

Services for Dwight will be held at Sunshine Communities (7223 Maumee Western Rd. Maumee) on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 10:30 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Guests may enter the building through the main entrance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Sunshine Communities in Dwight's memory.
