E.A. Arldt

Funeral services for E.A. Arldt, 92, of Paige, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Paige. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m and on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Erwin Albert Arldt was born on January 15, 1931 in Manheim, Texas to Albert Ernest Arldt and Mathelda Selma (Kieschnick) Arldt. He was united in marriage to Vernie Bernice Woelfel on February 3, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, having obtained the rank of Corporal at the time of his Honorable Discharge. E.A. was a lifelong rancher who also did carpentry work and served as a rural mail carrier for several years. He and Vernie helped to organize and attended the Paige Home Church of God where he played the accordion. He was a simple and generous man who enjoyed working around his farm. He was a hard worker and a "creative inventor" who could find a use out of almost anything he found.
E.A. passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his home in Paige.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Mathelda Arldt; his wife of 57 years, Vernie Arldt; his daughter, Mary Ann Arldt, and his grandson, Justin Arldt.
E.A. is survived by his son, Dale Arldt of Huntsville; his great granddaughter, Dana Arldt of Giddings; one sister, Mildred Woelfel of Leander; three brothers, Marvin Arldt of Houston, Franklin James Arldt of Austin, and Edgar Arldt & his wife, Donna of Giddings; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Schulze of Giddings, and Harry Wachsmann of Manheim, and two sisters-in-law, Lorine Patschke of Lincoln and Marilyn Woelfel of Lexington. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Arldt, Steven Arldt, Jimmy Arldt, Aaron Maass, Wayne Woelfel, Morris Woelfel, Glen Woelfel, and Jordan Centers. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Arldt, Edgar Arldt, and Franklin James Arldt.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
