Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKnight Funeral Home Inc on Nov. 13, 2025.
Earl Dean Brummett, 83, of Stanford, Kentucky, formerly of Crab Orchard, passed from this life in his home on November 12, 2025 into the arms of his Savior surrounded by the love of his family. Born June 13, 1942, in Brodhead, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Denver and Grace Brummett of Crab Orchard.
Earl was a true Kentucky country gentleman - hard-working, talented with his hands, and happiest outdoors. He spent many days on the water as an avid fisherman, competing in tournaments and telling the kind of fishing stories only a fisherman can tell. He owned and ran a fillin' station Phillips 66 in Crab Orchard in his early adult years and was always tinkering, fixing, and helping folks keep things running. If it had an engine, Earl could work on it. He became known to many as "the Lawn Mower Man," because people knew if they brought it to Earl, he'd figure it out.
He also loved music and dancing. Earl was a member of a clogging and two-step team the Pale Riders and he enjoyed the fellowship, fun, and smiles it brought. But his greatest joy was his family. You could always find him at a ballfield or in a gym somewhere in Lincoln or surrounding counties - cheering, clapping, and bragging on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was proud of them all, and they knew it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Grace Brummett; one brother, Charles Brummett; and a grandson, Jason Dean Brummett and a special friend Bobbie Rice.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Deanna (Ricky) Kidd of Danville, Kentucky, and Jamie (Todd) Smith of Stanford, Kentucky; one brother Donnie Brummett of Richmond, four grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply. He also leaves behind extended family and many friends who will miss his stories, his laugh, and his willingness to help.
Earl will be remembered for his work ethic, his big heart, and the way he showed up for his family - at the ballfield, in the garage, or by the water with a fishing pole. His legacy is one of love, faith, and family.
