A memorial service for Earl Wayne Comer, 83, will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Trees Baptist Church, 11391 Trees City Rd, Vivian, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Jimmy Sistrunk.

Earl was born on November 8, 1942, to D.C. Comer and Lillian Wilkins Comer in Vivian, Louisiana. His spirit was released from his worn shell of a body on Sunday, March 8, 2026, and is now gone to meet his maker.

Earl grew up in the world of horse racing and passed his love and knowledge of horses down through the generations. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Some of his happiest memories were made outdoors with the people he loved, including long days spent camping, playing chicken foot, and sitting around a table of dominoes. Earl loved tinkering with things, and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix or build. To his family, he was truly their Superman.

His daughter shared, “I was raised by the strongest, toughest man I’ve ever known, and he raised me to be strong. If I cried, well, he was gonna give me something to cry about. Well, Daddy… you’ve given me a reason to cry.” She said that watching her Superman grow weak and feeble was one of the hardest things imaginable, and losing him is the deepest hurt she has ever felt.

There was nothing Earl couldn’t do. He could fix anything that needed repair, and if there was a part you needed, more than likely, he had it tucked away among what some might have called junk, and he could tell you exactly where to find it. If you were working on or building something, he was going to be right there watching, telling you how you needed to be doing it.

Earl was married to the love of his life, Betty Lou Miles Comer, for 63 wonderful years. Their life together was filled with devotion, laughter, and the kind of partnership that carried them through every season. They built a home rooted in love, family, and the simple joys they shared side by side.

They were not a wealthy family, but there was never anything they wanted or needed that he didn’t make sure they had. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing things right the first time and taught them to work hard and take pride in everything they did. Their bond was strong, built on love, respect, and the countless ways he showed up for his family every day.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bobby Joe Comer; sisters, Imogene (Sissy) Dickson, Jeanette Harris, Betty Lou Carter, and Barbara Ann Stewart. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Lou Miles Comer, and daughter, Michelle Comer Young and husband, John. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Holly, Wade, Brianna, Jack, Ethan, and Cypriss, along with a host of acquired grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
