Coolville – Earl E. Cox, 82, of Coolville, OH, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at his residence.

 He was born November 4, 1942, in Harrisville, WV, to the late Ovid and Dorothy Fowler Cox. Earl was a 1961 graduate of Carthage-Troy High School. He was a member of the Coolville Masonic Lodge 337 F&AM and a Trustee for Carthage Township. Earl started his career working at a service station, then moved on to the Stave Mill in Coolville and the Shovel Plant in Parkersburg. He retired from GE after 32 years of service. He and his son, Jeff, enjoyed truck pulls, Enduro racing, drag car racing and he raced cars with Ronnie Bond. He also enjoyed jockey horses and pulling ponies. Earl and his family farmed dairy cows and showed Registered Polled Herefords. He was an avid sports fan and loved his OSU Buckeyes and Federal Hocking Lancers. Earl was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting.

 He is survived by a son, Jeff and Stephanie Cox; daughter, Diana Westfall and 2 grandsons, Lonnie Westfall and Wyatt Westfall.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Calaway Cox; daughter, Linda Cox and grandson, Noah Cox.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at White Funeral Home in Coolville with Pastor Wayne Dunlap and Pastor Calvin Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Vanderhoof Cemetery. Following the graveside service, a meal and fellowship will be held at the Amazing Grace Community Church, and everyone is welcome to attend.

 Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, from 5-8 P.M.

 Earl had a big love for the Christmas season and giving back. So, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made at the funeral home for the Athens County Children’s Services Santa Tree, to go towards holiday gifts and laughter for Athens County children.

 Arrangements have been entrusted to White Funeral Home in Coolville, OH.
