Earl Decell Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles "Chick" Robert Moore, who left this world on January 31, 2025, at the age of 79, following a tragic car accident in Jacksonville, NC. Born on January 11, 1946, in Malone, NY, Chick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Chick's journey was one marked by dedication, warmth, and a spirit that touched all who knew him. He spent his professional years working at Barrett Paving in Norwood, NY, where he eventually retired, earning the respect and friendship of colleagues who admired his work ethic and integrity.
Beyond work, Chick was a man of simple yet profound pleasures. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends, whether it was camping under the stars or simply puttering around to keep himself busy.
A devout man with two hometowns- depending on what season of the year it was, Chick found great comfort and community in his faith. He loved going to church where he was an active member of the Free Methodist Church in Norwood, NY and the Free Will Chapel Church in Richlands, NC.
He leaves behind a family that was his greatest pride: wife, Marty (Ladison) Moore, who was his partner in all things, sharing years of love and devotion; sons, Jeff Moore of Whittier, NC and Shannon Moore of Ellensburg, NY; daughter, Shelly Moore of St. Regis Falls, NY; and step-daughters, Krista Hoyt (Brian) of Canton, NY and Amanda Guerrero (Ricco) of Richlands, NC. His legacy continues in his cherished grandchildren, Thomas (TC), Steven, Corey, Linda, Jacob and Brandon; step-grandchildren, Keira, Ayden, Darnell, Ty, and Xavier; and great-grandchildren, Lily Ann, Cooper, Brantley, Remington, Braxton and Callie. His extended family, Zeke and Sawyer Fetko, Sadie and Kelson Preve, Mark and Jaylene Moore and Kristi Leigh will remember him as a source of wisdom and unconditional love.
Chick is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Joseph Moore and Edith Louise (Drown) Moore; sister, Beverly (Moore) Fish; brothers, William Moore and Carl Moore; and his sister in-law, Sally Moore who was married to Carl, whom he now joins all in eternal rest.
Chick's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a man whose joy for life was infectious, and who had a remarkable ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around him.
Chick's infectious smile and laughter will remain etched in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.
