Earl Sego, age 80, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline with family at bedside. Earl Dean, son of Carl and Arlene (Harrison) Sego, was born on May 22, 1944, in Bethany, Missouri. Earl was born into a large family having several brothers and sisters. At the age of 14 he left home and moved to Milan, MO to live with his uncle where he later graduated from Milan High School. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army. He served two tours in Vietnam and turned the military into his career serving proudly for 21 years, 11 months and 11 days. His main duty was mechanical work, which turned him into the great jack of all trades. No job was too big or too small. While still serving and stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life and on October 24, 1986, he married Maria Muller who preceded him in death on September 20, 2020. Shortly after their marriage Earl retired from the Army and they resided in Germany until 1999 when they moved back to Meadville, Mo. Earl enjoyed watching football, fishing, playing chess, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson. He was most known for his onery smile. His specialty was razzing his wife and after her passing his daughter. They could often be heard bantering back and forth. Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Lee and husband, Justin of Meadville; grandson, Dominic Harper of Meadville; two sisters; and four brothers and family friend Pamela Ralls of Chillicothe, who he claimed as another daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, James, Larry, William and David; and two sisters, Beulah and Thelma. Services will be held at Jacksonville, MO Veterans Cemetery on Friday, January 24th at 2pm with full military honors.
