Earldene S. Person, 81 of Fort Smith passed December 30, 2021 in Fort Smith. She was born January 22, 1940, in Dayton, Arkansas, to Earl Spearman and Mabel Elmore Spearman. Earldene was a graduate of Fort Smith High School. She went on to finish beauty school and was a beautician at Alene's Beauty Salon. Earldene also worked with her late husband, DW, at the family businesses, Person Auto Sales and Person Thoroughbred Farm. She enjoyed bowling, tennis and thoroughbred racing. Earldene was a voracious reader, and later in life enjoyed watching NCIS. She also enjoyed traveling and casino adventures along with her beloved Razorbacks and watching NASCAR. Earldene was of the Church of Christ faith.
Earldene is survived by her children, Melissa White and husband Kevin of Fort Smith, Darryl (Tad) Person, Jr. and wife Brenda of Fort Smith and, Susan Miller of Addison, Texas; her brother Douglas Spearman and his wife Glenda; three granddaughters, Courtney, Paige and Yvonne; two great granddaughters Kourtlyn and Evalina; and six step grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Darryl W. (DW) Person; and one brother Jerry Spearman.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, January 5, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Fort Smith National Cemetery. The family will greet friends for 5:00 to 7:00pm Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ben and Will Gibson, Kevin White, Phil Hicks, Joe Moon and Rich Russell. Honorary pallbearers will be David Presley, Cyril Hicks and Richard Bandy.
