Earnest Leon Edwards Sr.

Mr. Earnest Leon "Leon" Edwards Sr., age 84, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at his daughters' residence, surrounded by the love of his family.
Leon was born on May 22, 1941, in Trenton, Georgia, to the late Cassie Monroe Edwards and Bertha Mae Roach Edwards. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Ruby Ann Dodd Edwards; his sons, Leon Edwards Jr. and Michael Edwards; his grandson, Dominic Forcione; his sister, Opal Thurston; and his brother, Alfred Edwards.
A pipefitter and welder by trade, Leon was a proud member of the UA Local #72 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He took great pride in his work, but his greatest joy was always found at home. Leon's heart belonged to his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Leon was also a man of deep faith. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and carried that love quietly but faithfully throughout his life. His trust in God guided him through joy and hardship alike, and his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones in the presence of the Lord he loved so dearly.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His family will forever remember his strength, kindness, and the way he made each person feel valued and cherished. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
Survivors include his daughters, Melondy Kirby and Debbie Forcione (Scott); 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by his love.
Funeral services for Leon will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Mikel Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and will include: Tildon Kirby, Justin Kirby, Daniel Kirby, Matthew Edwards, Camron Edwards, Tanner Hudgins, and Kaiden Smith.
