Ebbie "Oscar" White, a cherished resident of
Richlands, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 21, 1954, in
Snow Hill, NC, Oscar was known for his warm spirit and enduring dedication to family and community.
Oscar was the proud owner and operator of East Coast Mobile Homes of Richlands, a business he nurtured and built over 40 years. Through his hard work and commitment, he made a lasting impact on both his customers and the broader community.
A devoted husband, father, and "Papa," Oscar's family was always his greatest joy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl White, of the home; his son, Jason White (Mitch Earnest) of
Charlotte, NC; his daughters, Patti Duerr (Jason) of New Jersey, and Deanna Wray of New Jersey. Oscar was also the proud grandfather of Caileigh and Colin, who brought immense joy to his life.
Oscar's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid fisherman, he found peace and contentment on the water. His love for music, especially classic country, was a lifelong pursuit. He played the steel guitar and shared his talent with others through local bands in Richlands and Wilmington. Oscar also enjoyed spending time on his tractor, finding solace in the simple pleasures of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Johnny White and Sally Harrison White, as well as his brother, Johnny White. He leaves behind his brother, Michael White of Seven Springs, NC; sisters, Kathy Knotts and Patricia Quinn of Pink Hill, NC, and Becky Moore of
Snow Hill, NC; along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
A service celebrating Oscar's life will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, January 20th at Johnson Funeral Home of Richlands, with Sammy Shepard officiating. The family will recieve friends from 12:30 - 1:30. Following the service, Oscar will be laid to rest at Onslow Memorial Park of Jacksonville.
Oscar's legacy of kindness, devotion, and warmth will continue to resonate in the lives of all who knew him. His memory will be forever cherished by his family and friends.
