Ed Willis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation on May 19, 2025.
Ed June Willis, Sr. was born to the late Stonewall Willis and Elizabeth Shell Willis in Round Pond, Arkansas on April 21, 1952.
At an early age, Ed confessed his hope in Christ and was baptized at Redeeming Christian Spiritual Church #24 under the leadership of Mother Anna Davis. He later united with Widener Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Wesley B. Cox. He remained a devoted member until his passing, under the current leadership of Pastor Rodney Burgess.
Ed was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1970, where he was known as an avid basketball player. Following high school, he pursued vocational training for two years with a focus on welding. Throughout his career, he held various jobs across Saint Francis County, Arkansas, Hot Springs, AR, and Chicago, IL, ultimately retiring in Stockton, CA. After retirement, he returned to his beloved hometown of Widener, Arkansas.
Ed was known for his kind and generous spirit. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His passion for yard work earned him the reputation as the area landscaper-many sought his help for their lawns and gardens. He also enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and attending church services.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Stonewall Willis, Sr. and Elizabeth Shell Willis; sisters, Eleanor Allen, Fannie Mae Shell Thompson, and Gillie Bell Oliver Hearns; and three brothers, JB Wilson, Frank Willis, and Barry Harris; and two grandchildren, Anthony Carter and Andre Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memory five children: Leslie Michelle Clark of Bixby, OK, Lashawn (Antonio) Renee Willis of Waterloo, IA, Erica Willis of Denton, TX, Edrick Willis of Stockton, CA, and Ed Willis, Jr. of Forrest City, AR; a host of grandchildren; sisters, Dr. Elnora Evelyn Williams (Nat Lewis), Joyce Wilson Jones, Lillie Brooks, Linda Wilson, and Mary Wilson all of Forrest City, AR; brothers, Stonewall Willis, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Curtis Bernard Willis of Widener, AR, Maurice (April) Harris of Wynne, AR, Courtney (Sharon) Wilson of Widener, AR, and John H. (Chasity) Wilson, Jr. of Forrest City, AR; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
