Markcus Greer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation on Feb. 4, 2026.
Mr. Markcus Greer, age 73, of Forrest City, Arkansas, was called home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2026, at his residence.

Markcus was born on September 6, 1952, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Robert Greer and Pearl Green Greer.

He received his early education in the Forrest City School District and was a proud graduate of Forrest City High School. After graduation, he furthered his education by attending Arkansas State University, where he majored in Psychology. He often spoke with pride about his college years and his connection to Omega, a bond he valued deeply.

Markcus also proudly served his country in the United States Army. He entered active duty in September 1976 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he served as a Telecommunications Center Specialist, holding the rank of Private Second Class (PV2). After completing over a year of honorable service, he was honorably discharged in October 1977.

Following his military service, Markcus began his working career in Detroit, Michigan, where he was employed with the Ford Motor Company. After returning home to Forrest City, he continued to serve his community through various occupations. He worked for the City of Forrest City in Public Works and later spent many years employed with Stewart Pallet Shop. In addition to his formal employment, he was well known throughout the community for his residential landscaping services, always willing to lend a helping hand.

A man of service and dedication, Markcus volunteered faithfully at several organizations in St. Francis County, including the St. Francis County Food Pantry. He also devoted many years working with and supporting the St. Francis County Fair.

Spiritually, Markcus was raised at United Christian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend J.W. Lockhart and remained a faithful member and attendee throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jackie Sue Greer.

Markcus leaves to cherish his loving memory his children: Pearl N. Greer of Marion, Arkansas, and Markcus Greer, Jr., and Jasmine Greer of Forrest City, Arkansas; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Robert Greer, Jr. of Forrest City, Arkansas; three sisters, Roberta McFadden, Rosie Dority, and Mary Lee Dillard, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Markcus will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, dedication to his community, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
