Edd Bailey, 78, of
Stanford, Kentucky passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Born on March 1, 1947, in Stanford to the late William Guy Bailey and the late Dorthy Cox Bailey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years–Etta Bailey of Stanford; one son, Stephen Bailey (Kallie) of Stanford; two daughters, Stacy Story (Dan) of Stanford and Nikki Lymat (Jehovahny) of Stanford; seven grandchildren, Bailey Story, Guy Bailey, Rayna Wheeler, Dani Story, Deni Bailey, Adie Bailey, and Harlan Bailey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Guy and Dorthy Cox Bailey; five brothers, Bill Bailey, John Bailey, Freddie Bailey, Thomas Bailey, and Robert Bailey; and four sisters, Rosa Lee Baldwin, Alberta Seward, Norma Jean Herrington, and Dorthy Smallwood.
Edd's life was lived by four priorities: God, family, country, and the great outdoors. His life changed in 1976 when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Since moving back to Kentucky in 1982, Edd has been a church member at Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Edd's favorite people called him Papa. You could always count on him being the #1 fan at all the sporting events of the grandkids. He loved eating Sunday dinners with the family, sitting at the table playing cards, sharing an early morning cup of coffee on the porch, watching sunsets on Maywood, and stargazing on any clear night and sneaking one too many donuts.
He served 7 years in the U.S. Air Force. After working in Corporate America–and living throughout many states–he left everything to move back to Kentucky. He then decided to finish his career by serving full-time in the Kentucky National Guard. He had the honor of being named 1988 Kentucky Soldier of the Year.
If not with family, you could always find Edd out in the fields or tinkering with his tractors. Edd was diagnosed with Alzheimer's; however, his diagnosis did not define his future. Through this battle, Edd never wavered in showing his love and devotion to his family. He is so deeply missed. But we rejoice in having the confidence "for this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison" (2 Corinthians 4:17).
