Eddie Wayne Albert, 77 years old, born and raised in Nowata, passed away November 18, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born June 18, 1947, in Nowata to Jack and Almeda Jean (Parks) Albert. He married the love of his life, Linda Worthington on November 18, 1976.
After graduating from Alluwe high school, Eddie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as an Engineer Equipment Operator. After his discharge from the Marine Corps in 1978, he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics where he earned his associate’s degree in Avionics. He worked for American Airlines as an Avionics Technician for over 20 years until his retirement in 2008.
In addition to working at American Airlines, he was a welder and heavy equipment operator. He loved the country life hunting, fishing, raising cattle, chickens and large gardens. In addition, he enjoyed reading western novels, especially Louis L’Amour, and watching western movies. He was known for his cooking skills, primarily his baking. Eddie coached and umpired many baseball games for his boys. He loved baseball and basketball. Eddie was a quiet man but when he spoke folks listened.
While in the Marine Corps, Eddie earned the Expert Rifle Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three oakleaf clusters, Presidential Unit Citation, and a Purple Heart. He was a gun enthusiast, enjoying guns of all varieties. Most importantly, Eddie loved his family. His sole purpose in life was taking care of Linda.
Eddie is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, of the home; son, Brent Adams and wife, Rudy, of Bauxite, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jessica Adams of Nowata, Nichole Burdick and husband, Jeffery, of Nowata, Sean Albert and wife, Brandy, of Claremore, and Jaxon Albert of Collinsville; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis Shipley and husband, Ralleigh, of Copan, Janet Partain of Nowata, Margie French and husband, David, of Dearing, Kansas, and Jackie Albert and wife, Leslie, of Chelsea.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Albert, and his parents.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Benjamin Funeral Service. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the First Church of God in Nowata. Interment will follow at Ball Cemetery in Childers with funeral honors presented by the United States Marine Corps. Jackie Albert, Steven Albert, Randy Albert, Lyle French, Sean Albert, and Brent Adams will serve as casket bearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Eddie’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata.
