Edward A Berg, age 62, of Elmhurst, IL, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Eddie was born on November 27, 196l to Kay and Edward M. Berg, He grew up in Norridge, IL with his younger siblings, Eric and Ellen. It was in Norridge he made many of his lifelong friends, " the Boys", that journeyed through life with him until the very end.
Eddie attended the University of Illinois in Urbana, Il, where he met his future wife, Lorri. After graduation he attended medical school, also at U of I, fulfilling his goal of becoming a doctor that began at age 3.

He and Lorri were married in 1987. He completed his training with a residency at Loyola in Maywood, IL and began his career as an anesthesiologist at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL, He spent the entirety of his career, from 1992-2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was loved and respected by all who knew him and worked with him.

Eddie and Lorri were long time members of Grace Bible Church in Elmhurst. They had five children - Kevin, Katie (who died in infancy), Kristopher, Steven and Gillian. He was a loving and devoted father, whose kids, as teenagers and adults, would rather spend time with him than their friends, or better yet, they would bring their friends with to spend time with Eddie. Despite his busy career, Ed found plenty of time to spend with his family and friends, enjoying his favorite activities, including cooking, eating out, enjoying a fine bottle of wine, watching the Cubs, fishing, and going out to hear live music, preferably Jazz.

Eddie will missed dearly by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1 pm at Grace Bible Church, 398 W Eggleston Ave in Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Camp Awana, a Christian summer camp that was an important part of both Eddie and Lorri's lives. Checks can be made out to "The Woods" (the camp recently changed its name) and mailed directly to the camp in Fredonia, WI, or given to Lorri to send.

Thinking about you all during this Christmas season. Missing our loved ones at Christmas time is so hard, as we know your losses have been devastating. We did not know Eddie very well and your son too but we have memories of Steven and Nico and the friendship and memories they had. Nico always shared memories of your family and the days he was at your home enjoying times together. Merry Christmas and thinking of you...enjoy those memories you will share of your loved ones around the Christmas tree this year. Take care and wishing you a beautiful 2025. The Kenna Family xo

I was blessed to have maybe 2 or 3 encounters with Eddie but I do recall that he was a man of character and good will. For some odd reason he left me with such a great impression that even though we lost contact he never left my mind. Rest in Peace and my condolences to the family

Eddie Berg was passionate, intelligent and loving. His family meant everything to him. His commitment to medicine was beautiful to see. Words fail to express our deep sorrow at his passing. Eddie will be forever missed, but never forgotten, by all who had the good fortune to know and love him.

I met Eddie and Lorri at my father-in-laws in Albion. Both were so welcoming and gracious. Ed and I talked a lot about wine. He was THE BEST!
