Eddie Ray Epperson, 78 of Waldo, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at his home in Waldo. He was born on June 5, 1933 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late Hubert Ray and Lela (Butler) Epperson. He is a member of the First United Methodist Church and loved duck hunting and fishing. Eddie completed his education and begun his professional career as a band director in Van Buren, Arkansas. He later came to Magnolia Public Schools and Southern Arkansas University. He had a great passion for music and loved his band students .and touched the lives of thousands of students. During his career he was active in many organizations including a member of the Phi Beta Mu Honorary Band Fraternity and the Kappa Kappa Psi Instrumental Music Fraternity and was the past president of the Arkansas Bandmasters Association and the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association. He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law Michele Epperson. He is survived by his four sons, Dr. Eddie Scott Epperson and wife Lori, Blake Epperson and wife Karen, Steve Epperson, and Eric Epperson all of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Hunter Epperson, Rachel Epperson, Kallie Epperson, Taylor Epperson, Evan Epperson all of Magnolia, Audrey Epperson of Ashdown; and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.
