Edeltraut Traudi Tropea Obituary Edeltraut "Traudi" Tropea, age 69 originally of Nürnberg, Germany and resident of West Deer Township, passed away on July 18, 2025 surrounded by the love and prayers of her family and friends, both in person and in spirit.
Traudi was born on March 20, 1956 in Nürnberg, Germany as the third of four children to Kurt and Renate Müller.
Traudi is survived by countless friends and much beloved family, notably her husband and lieb of nearly 50 years Wayne, her two daughters and cherished sons-in-law Alissa Tropea (Carlo Iasella) and Alexandra (Justin) Griffin, dearest grandsons Walker and Waylon Griffin, brother Jürgen and sisters Gitti and Jutta, and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Traudi poured herself into her family yet still had time and love to give to so many friends and community members so that her presence and impact will be felt long after her departure from this earth.
Though a practical woman to her core, Traudi also had a streak of silliness and a great sense of fun and brought joy to any group she was a part of. Her thoughtfulness had no bounds and her unique ability to truly see a person allowed her to form many special connections with people from all areas of her life.
Her adventurous spirit led her to marry Wayne, a U.S. army service member at age 19 (who she initially met when she went out dancing with her grandmother!) and then to start a new life in the United States as first a foreign language teacher and then a hospital based clinical pharmacist. Through hard work and sacrifice for the benefit of her family, she was able to retire young and continue to adventure with Wayne throughout the United States and Europe, something that brought her immense joy.
Traudi was brave from the time she moved to a new country at age 20 to be with her husband and start a new life through the end of her battle with cancer. Her deep faith sustained her and brought her peace, especially throughout the peaks and valleys of her illness. It served as a shining example to her family and friends who take heart in the knowledge that one day they will be reunited again. The love and support of her church family at Bethlehem Lutheran Church especially helped to bolster her throughout the last seven months.
Although all of us who knew Traudi feel sorrow for our great loss, we find joy and comfort in the knowledge that Traudi is now well and at peace. In the spirit of joy, fun, and friendship that embodied Traudi in life, there will be a celebration of life service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1719 Mt. Royal Boulevard on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00AM. Family will be available to greet guests beginning at 10:00AM and a luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Traudi's name to Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she has been a member for over 30 years.
