Edgar Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by United Funeral Service, Inc. on Aug. 17, 2024.
Edgar Hayes Hall, known affectionately as Edgar to his friends and family, passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 83, surrounded by his two loving daughters at his home. Born on May 21, 1941, to Edgar Hanibal Hall and Willie Mae Wilhite Hall in Union County, Mississippi, Edgar was a man whose presence was felt warmly and whose absence will be deeply mourned. He was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church. Edgar was also a Mason.
Edgar's life was one marked by dedication and service. Before his retirement, he was the proud owner and operator of Midtown Barber Shop for fifty plus years, a place that became more than just a business-it was a community hub where friendships were formed and stories shared. Edgar's commitment to his hometown extended beyond his barber chair. He served with distinction as a New Albany City Policeman and as a school crossing guard for over twenty-five years, ensuring the safety of countless children and adults alike. You could also find him working in security at the Sportsplex, where his reassuring presence was a staple.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Edgar was a man of many passions. But above all, he was an amazing "girl dad" to his daughters, Dana Hall Siniard and Kristen Hall Richey (Drew). His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and his guidance and love shaped the lives of his children and grandchildren in innumerable ways. His sister, Dorothy Hall Melson, will remember him as a caring brother whose laughter and wisdom were always a source of comfort and joy. Edgar's legacy will live on through his five grandchildren-Hayes Richey (Faith), Dillon Richey, Owen Richey, Grace Siniard, and Graham Siniard-who will carry with them the lessons and love he imparted.
His wife, Kaye Eaker Hall, whom he adored and shared a life filled with love for almost sixty years, preceded him in death. Edgar was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and three brothers, all of whom helped shape the man he became.
Those who knew Edgar will remember him as a man with a heart as big as his smile. His generosity knew no bounds, and his gentle spirit was a comfort to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. An avid gardener, Edgar's vegetable garden was a testament to his love for nature and his community. He took great joy in sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and neighbors, embodying the spirit of giving.
Breakfast at Chevron with his friends was a ritual he looked forward to, a time of day when laughter and camaraderie were as important as the meal itself. Edgar's ability to befriend anyone and his willingness to lend a helping hand were qualities that earned him the love and respect of many.
Edgar Hayes Hall lived a life that was loving and generous. A gentle man in every sense of the word, he touched the lives of many and left a legacy of kindness that will be remembered by all who had the good fortune to cross his path.
As we bid farewell to Edgar, we celebrate a life that exemplified the best of us. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to know him. He will be greatly missed, but his love and the memories he created will forever be a beacon for his family and friends.
Edgar's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, friendship, and community. His story is one of a life fully lived and generously shared-a narrative that will continue to unfold in the hearts and actions of those he leaves behind. Services to honor his life will be Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 4:00 pm at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bert Harper and Jack McQuary officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will be at Ingomar Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these services.
