Edgar “Jerome” Snider, age 63 and a long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away February 25, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa. Rev. Duane Snider will officiate, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Casket bearers are Christopher Matchie, Christian Matchie, Jaylyn Matchie, Jeremy Snider, Aaron Hollis, and David Snider. Honorary bearers are Daniel Snider and EJ Snider.
Jerome was born October 25, 1962 in Amarillo AFB, Texas to EJ Snider and Shirley Jean (Tomlinson) Snider. He received a Master’s Degree at East Central University of Ada, Oklahoma and became a Licensed Professional Counselor. He married Sherry Lyn Stanfield August 14, 1992 in Konawa, and he was a member of Cross Timbers Church of Konawa. Jerome earned the title of 6th Degree Black Belt in Judo, and he is listed in the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Jerome proudly served in the Army from 1988 through 1990. He received service ribbons and badges for marksmanship in rifle, hand grenade, and sharpshooter, and the Good Conduct Medal. Jerome was the song leader for Cross Timbers Church for many years, and he loved playing music and sing for the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Snider of the home; his mother, Shirley Hays of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; three sons, Aaron Hollis and wife, Amy of Konawa, Brian Hollis of the home; and Jeremy Snider of Kingston, Oklahoma; four daughters, Christina Goodnight and husband, Eric of Konawa, Kristina Matchie and husband, Todd of Konawa, Oklahoma, Lilly Snider of Ada, Oklahoma, Etta Jane Snider of the home; one brother, Duane Snider and wife, Marsha of Henryetta, Oklahoma; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, EJ Snider.
