Edgar Allen Spiller, the youngest of ten children, left his earthly home on Saturday, December 24, 2022. He was born in rural northeast Arkansas on March 22, 1930 and died at the age of 92 years 9 months and 2 days.
Ed was a member of the first graduating class of Greene County Tech in Paragould, AR. He worked as a farmer and in various manufacturing jobs before serving on active duty for 4 years in the US Navy. He was the co-founder of Bluff City Refrigeration in Memphis, TN and retired as the owner of Ruston Refrigeration in Ruston, LA.
Ed married his sweetheart, Elsie Higgins, on July 3, 1948. Over their 73 years of marriage, Ed & Elsie lived in 5 states, finally settling near their only child, Lisa, in 1980. In Ruston, they enjoyed over 3 decades of serving at their church, camping, fishing, and entertaining friends in their country home. There was little that Ed enjoyed more than hooking a white perch while fishing with his best friend, Dr. Jack Cox!
Ed is survived by his daughter Lisa Spiller Taylor and her husband Terry of West Monroe, LA; two granddaughters, Tara Taylor Morris (Josh) of Slaughter, LA, and Sara Taylor Richard (Jarrett) of Youngsville, LA; and three great-grandchildren, June and Ruben Morris, and Baby Richard who is due in July!
Ed is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie Higgins Spiller, his parents, Fredrick and Nora Meadows Spiller, and 9 siblings: Cecil & Loyal Childress, Geneva Spiller Darr, Atlee, Glendee, Gerald, Clifford, Freeman, and John Spiller.
Ed's nieces and nephews were more like siblings to him. He is predeceased by 10 and survived by 4: Eddie, Pat, Shelby, and Wayne.
