Private graveside services in memory of William David Hilburn, 81, of West Monroe, Louisiana were held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 6, 2026, at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Mr. Hilburn was born on September 14, 1944, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on March 1, 2026, at his residence.
William’s life was shaped by curiosity, loyalty, and a gentle love for the world around him. He was a man who found joy in reading, exploring the ever changing world of computers, and loved animals. A proud supporter of the West Monroe Rebels and Louisiana State University, he cheered with heart and tradition, never missing a chance to stand behind the teams he loved.
His career reflected both dedication and intellect. William worked for Texaco, Computer Science Corporation, and Texas Instruments, building a reputation for reliability and quiet expertise. Before retiring, he specialized in IT Engineering, a field where his sharp mind and steady problem solving made a lasting impact on colleagues and projects alike. William was also a faithful member of The Assembly West Monroe, where he found fellowship, purpose, and a community that meant deeply to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Bascan Hilburn and Eva Lenora Crow Hilburn; sister, Janis Godwin; and brother-in-law, Chuck Godwin.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his sister, Judy Hilburn Olmstead; nephews, William Keith Olmstead (Tiffany) and Sean Olmstead; nieces, Ashley Nguyen and Aimee Godwin; great nieces, Megan Olmstead and Georgia Nguyen; and great nephew, Mason Olmstead.
