Sending much sympathy and many hugs. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed so much as will her pies. God speed Miss Merele.

Keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers. Forever a Carrabelle legend. From Julia Maes pies to spending the last 30 years finding her or someone who sold her great pies. No way to recreate the love put into those pies. I remember when my Dads business was Next door to Julia Maes restaurant Patrick and I would go to visit her in the pie shack and getting a little snack. What an amazing lady and an amazing long life.

Miss Merle was a dear and gentle woman, a loving mother, a long-time matriarch of her family, and a forever supporter of our community. She was all about Carrabelle, Florida and played a large part in making Carrabelle what it is today. Many times, my husband and I took our boat up Postun Bayou to Julia Mae´s dock just to get a whole "Merle´s coconut cream pie" - sometimes we would get two. In her later years, I enjoyed visiting with her during lunch at the Franklin County Senior Center and during events at the American Legion Post 82, both of which she was a strong advocate and a dedicated volunteer. I am honored to have known her. Godspeed, Miss Merle. My husband and I send our prayers and condolences to Miss Merle´s entire family.
