Edith Lorance Gammon

Ms. Edith Lorance Gammon, 95 of Tullahoma, passed away from this life on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at her home. She was born on April 18, 1927, in Wartrace, Tennessee to the late Willie Ray and Amanda Lorance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Donald Gammon; siblings, Esther, Belle, Grace, Sterling, George, Horace, Gene and Judy; and her granddaughter, Melissa Zamora.
She was born and raised in Wartrace, Tennessee and lived all over the country from the east to west coast. Her favorite place to live was Colorado; she loved the Rocky Mountains, trees, and the way the snow hit the mountains. She graduated from Morrison High School and continued her college studies. In 1949, she took a job with the U.S. Navy Department in Washington, D.C. She was also employed as an Executive Assistant with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. She was proud to serve her country as a Navy WAVE after World War II.
In 1951, she met Alvin Donald Gammon at a dance in Washington D.C. while out with friends. He was impressed with her dance moves and offered her a dance. In 1953, they united in Holy Matrimony at a church wedding in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with family and friends in attendance.
Edith was stubborn and loyal but loved her family dearly. She was always there for those who needed her, even when she was going through things on her own. She loved Rafeal's pizza on Friday's while having movie night with family. She was known for being a "shark" when playing Parchessi with her great-grandson, Kenai. She was strong in her faith and was a member of Green Mountain United Methodist Church in Lakewood, Colorado and attended First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma.
Edith is survived by her two daughters, Patrice Rivera and Juli Gammon; siblings, Sue Ridner and Jimmy Lorance; grandchildren, Serena Hettick, Vanessa Morris, Alysha Tarantino, Lorance Wong, and John Wong; great-grandchildren, Kinsasha, Kahlia Kitana, Kai, Kiahna Kenai Zamora, Bryanna and Lily Hettick, Donald Morris and Hoxton Tarantino; and a host of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Interment: Fort Logan National Cemetery
