Edith “Marie” Gatten, 87, of Rittman, passed away December 29, 2025, at Orrville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Marie was born August 7, 1938, in Belmont, Ohio to Aaron S. Yoe and Pearl Elizabeth {Chambers} Yoe.
She married Raymond “Al” Gatten on February 9, 1958.
Marie worked at Wooster Hospital for over 20 years. She worked specifically in laundry, sterile processing, switchboard, and the insurance department. She was a member of the Rittman Christian Church. Marie loved crossword puzzles and reading. She enjoyed fishing on her pontoon boat with her husband. Marie liked working in her flower beds. She really loved playing domino 42 game with her family. Marie loved family get togethers for holidays and babysitting her many grandchildren.
Marie will be deeply missed by her children Michelle Marie (Jeff) Fry of Bellville, Rachelle Ann (Troy) Croskey of Smithville, Mark Allen (Janet) Gatten of Wooster, Gary Lee (Teresa) Gatten of Creston, Kathleen Elizabeth (Alan) Smith of Orrville; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister Geneva (Ken) Lake of Barnesville, Ohio.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, grandchild Stanley, great-grandchild Payton; sisters Delores Hamilton of Philadelphia, and Dorothy Wade of Barnesville; brother Charles Yoe of Belmont.
Friends may call Saturday, January 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Hatten officiating. Entombment will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank her neurology Dr. Nicholas Doher and APRN CNP Alexandra Rhoten for all of their help with mom.
