Edith M. Kane, 100, passed away peacefully in Fairfax, Va. on September 17, 2025.

Edith Milto (Kane) was born January 11, 1925 in Finleyville, Pa, 18 miles, south of Pittsburgh. While still in high school, she moved with her parents to Pittsburgh, and graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Monongahela High School.

She married the love of her life, Lou Kane, on August 17, 1946, who, after a long and happy life, predeceased her in 2016, they were married for more than 70 years.

In April of 2010, Edith and Lou relocated to Northern Virginia to be closer to their family. Edith last resided at the Fair Oaks Health and Rehabilitation facility in Fairfax. She loved to read and play bingo with her fellow residents there. Edith and her entire family were overjoyed to celebrate her 100th birthday there earlier this year.

In her younger days, Edith loved to travel to see her family, especially for holidays, and to go on various domestic trips to destinations such as Alaska and Hawaii.

Edith is survived by 3 children: Bob, Tom and Regina, by 3 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Edith was a devoted wife and mother and gave her family a great example of living a good and virtuous life. She had an everlasting impact upon her family and will never be forgotten.

A funeral Mass will be held at noon on October 18 at the Church of the Nativity in Burke, Va. She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
