Our beautiful mother and matriarch of our family entered a beautiful garden on February 2, 2023, joining many loved ones and friends.
Edith Norene Arnold Knott, born on December 31, 1923, was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gerald Preston Knott; her parents, Eddie and Minnie Ford Arnold; three brothers, Howard Arnold, Clyde Arnold, and Gene Arnold; four sisters-in law, Velma Bridges, Elsie Arnold, Helen Arnold, and Mattie Arnold; one daughter-in-law, Penny Knott; and one son-in-law, Mac Davidson.
She is survived by her three children, Gary Knott of McKenzie, TN, Sherry Knott Hall of Bradford, TN, and Cathy Davidson of Hendersonville, TN. She adored her four “Grands,” Dee Jackson of Dyer, TN, Kelli Jones of Trenton, TN, Dustin Davidson of Gallatin, TN, and Kasi Darby of Greenfield, TN; and her six “Greats,” Cameron Oliver of Smyrna, TN, Tess Darby, Edie Darby, and Sloan Darby of Greenfield, TN, and Jack Davidson and Reese Davidson of Gallatin, TN.
Norene was known as the “Daylily Lady” through her love of flowers and gardening. She always loved working in her gardens. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, crafter, and cook throughout her 99 years of life. She was deeply loved and will be forever missed. She was a huge “Lady Vol’s” fan and was delighted in the successes of all her great-grandchildren’s interests to the end.
As the oldest living family member of her church, the family requests memorials be made in lieu of flowers to the Harmony-Pratt Cemetery Association.
