Edith Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDonald Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Picayune on Jan. 15, 2026.
Edith Mae Kirkland Lee was born on December 10, 1935. Edith Lee, a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful servant of the Lord passed away on January 8, 2026 leaving a legacy of love, faith and service. She was the beloved wife of Roland R. Lee Sr. for 63 blessed years. Together they rooted their marriage in the Lord and were blessed with three children: Melonie R. Lee and her husband, Terry, Roland R. Lee Jr. and his wife, Dawn, and Faron K. Lee and his wife, Deidre.

Edith raised her family with a strong faith and a deep love for the Lord. She not only instilled that love within her home but also shared it with many children through her church. A devoted Sunday school teacher, Edith spent countless hours preparing lessons, crafts, and gifts, always pouring the love of Christ into the children of the Leetown community.

She was an accomplished seamstress who loved creating special things for those she loved. From sewing Barbie dresses for her granddaughters to crocheting baby blankets for many babies, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her hands were always busy making something beautiful. Edith also served her community as a school bus driver for Hancock County, caring for generations of children along her routes.

If you were to ask Edith what her greatest accomplishment was, there is no doubt she would say her family. To everyone she was Mrs. Edith, but to her family she was their beloved "Dodie." She cherished time spent with family and friends, especially moments with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dodie always entertained her grandchildren with all her quirky sayings that have still stuck with them all these years, phrases like "oh the doust" when things went wrong, or "scat cat, your tail's on fire" whenever someone sneezed. Dodie will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, and the countless lives she has touched.

She is survived by her three children: Melonie R. Lee and her husband, Terry; Roland R. Lee Jr. and his wife, Dawn; and Faron K. Lee and his wife, Deidre; her grandchildren: Dwight Lee (Tiffany), Peyton Lee (Devyn), Kaleb Lee (Roseanna), Chance Berry (Rachelle), Roland Lee III (Kayla), Ethan Lee, Rachel Brignac (Bryan), Laura Lee Ducote Steiner (Bret), Jaden Lee; her great grandchildren: Tyson Lee, Joshua Roberts, Roland Lee IV, Macie Lee, Elizabeth Lee, Wyatt Lee, Karson Lee, Ezra Lee, Amelia Lee, Harper Brignac, Israel Lee, Charlotte Lee, Lane Brignac, Maci Ladner, Jayce Garcia; one great great grandchild: Wrenlee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Roland R. Lee Sr., parents, siblings, and a grandson.
