James "Jimmy" Chilton
James Archie Chilton, age 80, of Picayune, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
James was born on July 28, 1945, in McNeill, Mississippi. He graduated from Pearl River Central High School and attended Pearl River Community College. James served in the United States Army, including a period of overseas service. He later retired from Fleming Construction Company in Kenner Louisiana.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Chilton; father, James Henry Chilton; one sister, Jane Chilton Rester.
He is survived by his children: Jennifer (Charles) Currie, Russell Matthew Chilton, their mother, Paula Baker Chilton; beloved grandchildren, Noah and Greyson Currie, one great-grandson Weston James Currie, treasured niece and nephews.
James attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for many years. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and love for his family.
Visitation will be held Wednesday morning at McDonald Funeral Home, in Picayune, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at First Baptist Church of McNeil Cemetery.
